Returned 1918, Remembered 2018

A Book Launch

Saturday November 3rd2018 at 2.30pm in the Crawford Hall, Bidford on Avon

During the two years following the Armistice of November 1918, Services personnel from Bidford were demobilised and returned home. Some returned to their families and picked up their former lives, in so much as they could in a changed world.  Some returned with physical and mental injuries which were to plague future years.  Everyone was aware of comrades who died in action.

After such a traumatic war, serving people from Bidford proved able to settle into domestic life and put the difficult memories of the war behind them. Until now these people have not been honoured for their national service and their ability to rebuild their lives.

On the centenary of the Armistice, Bidford and District History Society is publishing

Have You Forgotten Yet?”

the result of 3 years detailed research by Bob Marshall.

The book documents as far as possible the lives of over 180 personnel who returned to Bidford on demobilisation. It provides a fascinating social history during the subsequent period of economic and social upheaval.

Returned, Remembered is a celebration in words and music of the people who returned from The Great War and the lives they built subsequently. It draws on material in our book, Have You Forgotten Yet?  which will be launched publically at the event

Our centenary celebration Returned, Remembered is to be held on Saturday November 3rd 2018 at 2.30pm in the Crawford Hall, Bidford on Avon.
